well 'jitsu' also refers to killing arts 'do' is self-defense. but i agree i never done the pretty stuff fighting an equal match. when ur life is on the line all that movie shit will get u killed. but the average pro boxer n wrestler can beat the avg martial artist bc (drumroll) u really cant practice do this techniques full strength/speed.

try both. choose the one that fits you better. no fighting style is superior, it always depends on the fighter

most of the time u dont want to strike in the clinch but use ur opponents momentum to throw em.use ur legs to take em out and dont be afraid to fall backwards if necessary.i train at a local park and i cant even begin to tell u how many times iv busted my back/head getting my opponents on the ground or taking a defensive position in the clinch.BUT!if u absolutly need to strike in the clinch use elbows kness and try and break theyr grips by striking the pit of the elbow with a lot of force.

is jujitsu superior to Kung Fu? (particularly Northern Praying Mantis). Those are the only two schools in my area, i don't know which to choose

Why I can't strike in a clinch? If my hands will be grabbed I do my strikes by a head, legs, elbovs.

Jujitsu was created as a defense for the smaller victim. A "Jutsu" (technique) allows a smaller person to control a large attacker. This gives the smaller person the ability to use body leverage to break the limbs of an attacker, or choke him/her out. jujitsu has no moves like this. this is fake judo and crap that steven sagal does.

strikes can be very effective. but your enemy´s instinct when he can´t beat you with strikes will be to grab you so you can´t strike either. striking, clinching/grappling, takedowns and groundwork are equally important because you never know what you enemy is up to
